We have all learned to recognize when someone has high self-esteem, but learning how to build your own self-esteem is somewhat difficult. Of course, there is always a downside asking others what they feel about you, and you may end up with information but doesn’t make you feel too good. Being prepared for the negative is always a good idea, but try and make it clear to them the purpose of why you are asking so that they will not use it as an opportunity to beat you down.

People who are lacking in self-esteem often tend to be on the shy side, primarily because they do not have a lot of confidence in who they are or how other people may view them. One way to help improve your self-esteem is to be more outgoing, even if you have to “fake it to make it”. Put on your best smiling face and at least pretend to be confident while meeting other people. Soon, these changes will become permanent and you will be confident. Self Esteem

 Self-esteem is your own perception of who you are as a person and your value on this earth. Ways to Be Happy

We have all heard the song, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”, and although it sounds like a very good mantra, it is very difficult to do in today’s world. Most of us have financial problems, various worries about family, health, and relationships, and we live in a world where things are always changing. It is very difficult to be happy when you are worried, yet there are people who seem to be able to do it.

Self Perception

Recently, there was a YouTube video that showed a variety of women describing their physical characteristics to a sketch artist who was unable to see them face. The sketch artist drew a picture based on the self perception of these women. Then, friends of the same women came in and describe them again, but in much more positive in realistic terms. The sketch artist drew another set of pictures and at the end of this experiment showed both sets of photographs to the original women. What they realize is that they all had a very negative self perception in comparison to how their friends saw them. This was a very graphic and realistic explanation for what self perception is.

Low Self Esteem

 If you were to draw a picture of someone with low self-esteem, it would be pretty easy to do. They would be slouched over, eyes looking down, and physically defeated.
